Update, July 29, 2025 (14:15 PM ET): Retroid acknowledged the hinge cracking issue in a Reddit post shortly after we published the article below. Affected Pocket Flip 2 users are being offered free replacements, with prepaid shipping labels and cross-shipping of new units. Retroid says the failure wasn’t observed in its internal testing, but engineers and suppliers are now jointly investigating the cause.
